Are your Skills in Demand Outside IR35?
Outside Spy crunches through the latest 3020 IT Contract vacancies advertised as “Outside IR35” to reveal the skills most in demand.
Outside Spy has been monitoring the level of IT contract vacancies since the start of 2020, when we first launched our service to bring all the relevant advertised vacancies “Outside IR35” to the attention of our members in one easy-to-search database.
This analysis, repeated every six months, takes the full database of current vacancies, ie roles advertised in the last 10 days, to help answer queries such as “How many Outside IR35 roles are there with my skillset?”.
The method was to analyse all 3020 current
roles and see how often our portfolio of 24 keywords were specified in the Job
Title by advertisers. Our portfolio of Keywords contains a mixture of skill-based
keywords (eg Python, Java, SQL) and role-based keywords (eg Project Manager,
Business Analyst). The analysis is restricted to the Job Title itself, rather
than include the job description, so as to exclude advertisers’ “wish list” of
skills.

Reviewing the results of this recent analysis,
Outside Spy co-founder Brian Stalley observed;
"Overall the numbers of advertised contracts outside IR35 has increased sharply over the last 6 months which is good news for the sector as a whole. Within that, it seems like Architects and Project Managers have seen increased demand for their services over and above the general rise in the market, whilst, perhaps surprisingly, demand for freelance Cyber Security specialists has slackened somewhat".
